Susan Cross, ARNP, FNP-C
Susan Cross has been an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in Family Practice medicine since 1998 and a full time nurse for over thirty years. Her multi-discipline clinical expertise includes the medical specialties of otorhinolaryngology, facial plastic surgery, dermatology and endocrinology.
Susan’s nursing career began in 1978 at the Wolfe Clinic, Marshalltown. Completing her Family Nurse Practitioner certification in 1998, she joined McFarland Clinic, Ames, IA in Endocrinology/Adult Medicine. She worked in their acute care walk-in clinic where she provided primary care history and physicals, diabetes management with ADA guidelines, lipid clinic with AHA-NCEP III guidelines. The last six years at McFarland Clinic she worked in dermatology medical and cosmetic skin care utilizing their Excimer®, Lightsheer® and phototherapy lasers.
In 2008, Susan joined Kathy Cook MD part time in her private dermatology practice in Ames, IA. She provided medical and cosmetic dermatology services, referral and coordination of care for Moh’s procedures; IPL, Fractional CO2, Lightsheer® and Isolaz® laser treatments. She dispensed SkinMedica® and Obagi® Medical skin care and provided peels, Botox® and filler treatments. On opposite hours during this period she worked with Michael W. Hill MD, Facial Plastics Surgery PC to assist in clinic patients of skin cancer biopsies and surgical management, Botox®, fillers, cosmetic surgical consultations and assisted in surgery. She implemented and developed his medically directed weight loss program.
In 2010, she opened Urban Effects Medspa.
Alice Doolittle, RN
Alice Doolittle graduated from Southwestern Community College of Nursing in 1984. She began her nursing career at Ringgold County Hospital, Mount Ayr, IA. She joined McFarland Clinic, Ames, IA in 1989 working in orthopedic department until 1994. She continued her clinical experience in dermatology as a department manager through 2004 when she transitioned to become the first assist in general surgery.
Alice joined Dr. Kathy Cook, MD in her private dermatology practice as nurse manager in Ames in 2009.
Alice joined Urban Effects Medspa in 2013 working in medical dermatology, BBL® (broadband light), Forever Young BBL®, skin tightening and acne treatments. She provides client coaching for Urban Effects medically directed Ideal Protein® weight loss program.
Andy began her career at the Wolfe Clinic, in Marshalltown, IA in 1982. Her responsibilities included coordinating patient appointments, insurance prior authorizations, photo documentation and providing patient education on Obagi Medical skin care regimens.
She worked with the Marshalltown Community School district from 1999-2000 as a Data Coordinator, Grant for At Risk Students. She worked in Child Abuse Prevention Services- Program Director from 2000 to 2004. She directed a grant funded program providing Sexual Abuse Prevention Programs for children pre-school to 5th grade in a three county radius.
She joined the Area Education Agency 267- as a Parent Coordinator in 2004 where she promoted, developed and strengthened partnerships between parents, educators and community agencies to provide services for children birth to 21 with special needs. She coordinated services with agencies and educators for families with children of special needs in a seven county area. She directed the operations of the Family and Educator Connections Program while serving on several boards and advisory panels.
Andy joined Urban Effects Medspa in 2013 as their Patient Concierge. Her responsibilities include coordination of patient scheduling, receptionist and daily operations. She assists in coordinating patient events and making sure all guests receive the special attention they deserve during their visit.
