What Is Ideal Protein?

The Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method is an ideal protein, low-carbohydrate diet that encourages fat loss without causing muscle mass loss. Unlike other low-carbohydrate diets, Ideal Protein focuses on eating the right protein. Your sugar intake, both simple and complex, is severely restricted until you reach your goal weight. This ensures that your glycogen (carbohydrate) reserves are completely depleted—forcing your body to dip into its fat reserves and causing you to lose weight. Key to its success—and popularity—Ideal Protein not only encourages weight loss, but also establishes a healthier lifestyle to assist you in maintaining your results.

Eating the right protein? Note: Not all protein sources are created equal.Ideal Protein relies on just that, finding ideal sources of protein. Not commonly known, the lower the quality of protein, the lower the absorption rate may be into your body. When absorption is low, you tend to not feel as satisfied and will want to eat more.


Ideal Protein follows an easy four-phase program:

  1. Phase 1: Followed until your weight loss goals are met
  2. Phase 2: Followed for two weeks
  3. Phase 3: Followed for two weeks
  4. Phase 4: Followed for life

The first phase, is of course, the most restricting. Your diet will rely heavily on a number of Ideal Protein products such as items from Ideal Protein’s breakfast and lunch offerings. Incorporating a limited portion of protein-rich foods like seafood, poultry, eggs, or tofu—you are also allowed a small portion of non-sugary, non-starchy vegetables including bell peppers, cucumber, broccoli, or kale. Off limit vegetables include carrots, potatoes, beets, and avocados.

Progressing through the phases, you rely less on Ideal Protein products and incorporate more protein-laden foods along with select vegetables. By Phase 3, you slowly increase your calorie intake and are allowed a small portion of fruit and begin to add in whole grains and dairy products.

Phase 4 is what makes Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method truly unique. Throughout each of the phases, you are taught to make healthy choices that last far after you have reached your goal weight.
